Hi Makayla, I read this beautiful poem in a workshop yesterday and gave the prompt, "Ways I've Been Brave" and it was (pre-chuckling) very fruitful. <3
Thank you for your beautiful words! Happy to be following along.
This comment totally made my day, Yoda! This is such a high compliment and I love that prompt idea! Ha - so glad it was fruitful and I appreciate you reading.
This is so lush and vivid! “Holding something alive in your hands, drawing it toward you, remembering with the body” - I love the exploration of the balance between mind and body in this piece ❤️
This felt like the truest form of storytelling! I was enraptured. It reminded me of “The Celestine Prophecy,” except so much more interesting and relatable and funny. I’m crossing my fingers we’ll hear more stories from the farmilia!
Ooo I actually have never read The Celestine Prophecy, but now I'm so curious. Relatable and funny is truly the best compliment haha -thank you Jordan! ❤️
"there was a time so recently in my life where I was acutely in tune with where my curiosities were leading me, and wholeheartedly trusted they would work themselves out. "
Makayla! Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. This was so beautifully written, and such a compelling and interesting way to explore some of those bigger ideas and questions you reveal toward the end—around pleasure and identity and finding creative ease. Many of them struck a chord with me, too.
(Also, selfishly, I've been dying to revisit the words you shared in writing group last week, and was thrilled to see them transformed into the poem at the end. 🤍)
Aw this means so much Michelle. I hesitated on sharing the poem, but it was born out of a lot of the thoughts I was trying to express in the piece. Thank you for your sweet comment!
I loved every word, but this, this just made me grin: "She had short curly bangs and twirled the rest of her hair on the top of her head in a way that said “yes, I could be a supermodel, but right now I’m shoveling horse manure because I’m also hot for composting, so what?”

They are still working themselves out :)
Thank you friend! Yes, they are mysteriously working themselves out (for me and for you haha)
